Welcome to Kinderopvang Ikke – location De Zonnebloem, located within the De Zonnewende broad school at Berberisstraat 4 in Nijmegen. We provide daycare for children aged 0 to 4 years in a warm and secure environment where the child is at the center. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and nature-based learning. We believe every child is unique and has a hundred languages to explore the world. Therefore, we offer a rich learning environment where children develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically through play. Our location makes use of the facilities of the broad school, such as the library and gymnasium. This gives our children extra space to move, explore, and learn. We work with horizontal groups, meaning children stay with peers of the same age. This supports tailored development and creates calm and familiarity for the children. The group structure is aligned with legal guidelines and available space, ensuring every child receives sufficient attention. At De Zonnebloem, nature-based learning is a key focus. We regularly go on outings, use outdoor spaces, and organize activities that align with the seasons. Think of scavenger hunts, nature exploration, creative activities with natural materials, and celebrating seasonal events. We also use the gym for physical activities and the library to stimulate language development. Each child has a dedicated mentor. The mentor is the primary contact for parents and closely follows the child’s development. Through our parent portal Kindplanner, we keep parents updated on daily experiences, photos, and important information. We value parental involvement and work closely with parents and our location-based parent committee. Our daycare is flexible in terms of care days and hours. We offer both full and half-day care, tailored to the needs of the family. We are open from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with the possibility of early or extended care. We are closed on national holidays, the Friday of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches, and from Christmas through New Year’s.
