Welcome to daycare centre Ons Stekkie, a trusted name in central Rotterdam since 2001. Located at Bloemstraat 46, a quiet side-street off Weena and only a five-minute walk from Central Station, we offer small-scale childcare with a homely atmosphere. Our unique feature is a large, walled city garden where children play outside every day, explore and grow. We run two vertical groups – the Bloempjes and the Bijtjes – where children aged 0 to 4 play together. The younger ones learn from the older children, while the toddlers take pride in their ‘big-kid’ tasks. We believe every child should develop at their own pace, which is why we choose this mixed-age setting. Each group is cared for by a steady team of qualified, caring pedagogical staff. Our activities focus on learning through play. We sing songs, read stories aloud and create crafts to stimulate fine motor skills. In the garden children can run, cycle and climb – perfect for gross motor development. Imagination and creativity flourish in our doll corner and during themed games. Language development is encouraged through circle-time conversations and naming everything the children see and experience. We provide an all-inclusive package that covers nappies, food and drinks, so parents can work without worry. As a small-scale centre we foster a family atmosphere where everyone knows each other.
