Jottum

Jottum is a small-scale daycare located in a beautiful building at Kleine Rozenstraat 19, right in the historic centre of Groningen and next to the Noorderplantsoen park. We provide care for up to 38 children aged 0 to 4 years. Our experienced, Dutch-speaking pedagogical staff work from the heart, offering every child attention, care, warmth and affection. Our educational approach is built on three pillars: the theories of Emmi Pikler, the communication method of Thomas Gordon and the creative philosophy of Reggio Emilia. For babies this means we encourage free movement development and provide respectful, unhurried care. We actively listen to what children tell us – with words, gestures or emotions – and give their ideas and initiatives plenty of space. In this way they discover both themselves and the world around them. Our bright, spacious playroom offers countless corners where children can crawl, build, read or hide. Outside we have a secure garden with a sandpit, climbing frame, space-hoppers and a real playhouse. We regularly take the cargo bike to Noorderplantsoen to run, play and explore nature. Meals and drinks are healthy and varied, allowing children to become familiar with a healthy lifestyle in a playful way. For babies we provide bottle-feeding according to the home schedule; for toddlers and pre-schoolers there is fruit and a tasty snack. In separate sleeping rooms children can rest whenever they need to. We use the Bitcare parent app so that you, as a parent, are always informed about how the day is going.
