Kideo Winschoten

Welcome to Kideo Winschoten, our newest branch opening July 2025 at Oudewerfslaan 36 in the heart of Winschoten. In a beautiful, unique building – a former primary school from 1930 in characteristic style – we create a warm second home for up to 32 children aged 0 to 4. At Kideo we use horizontal groups. This means children are placed in age groups, for example 0-1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years and 3-4 years. Each child starts and ends the day in their own home group. During the day children may leave their home group for fun activities such as lunch, dancing or creative activities. On quiet days there may sometimes be a vertical group of 0-4 years. Moving to the next group is based not only on age, but especially on the child's development – always celebrated with a festive transition ritual. Our pedagogical policy is based on Emmi Pikler's vision. We provide an emotionally and physically safe environment, guide personal and social development and give children the norms and values our culture has to offer. Daily fresh, organic and responsible meals provide the right nutritional foundation. We believe it's important for children to see familiar faces; therefore we work with fixed pedagogical staff and even our substitutes come from a fixed pool. Outdoor play is part of every day. In our garden children can romp to their heart's content, which is not only healthy but also stimulates creativity and motor skills. Our homely atmosphere ensures every child feels welcome and at home.
