SKSG Kastanjeplein

SKSG Kastanjeplein is a welcoming daycare centre located in a historic building in the very heart of Groningen. We provide care for up to 50 children aged 0–4 years. Registered with the Dutch National Childcare Register since 1 January 2010, we operate under the supervision of the GGD Groningen health authorities. Our small-scale, horizontal groups offer a home-like atmosphere. Babies (0–2 yrs) are welcomed in the Uiltjes and Egeltjes groups (max. 12 children each), while toddlers (2–4 yrs) join the Eekhoorntjes group (max. 16 children). Every child is assigned a personal mentor who tracks development and is the main contact for parents. We follow the Dutch VVE curriculum “Piramide” to support language and cognitive growth and organise theme-based activities. The bright group rooms open onto a sheltered city garden with sandpit, climbing frames and crawling grass; babies even have their own mini garden. Many children nap outdoors in healthy fresh air inside cosy Lutjepotje sleep houses. Creativity and healthy food are central to our approach. In our cooking studio we prepare fresh, warm meals daily and toddlers explore tastes and ingredients through play. Additional facilities include an arts & crafts studio, a small stage for music and movement, and a cosy reading corner. Parents receive photos and updates via the SKSG Parent App and can book flexible care until 18:30. Together we ensure every child enjoys coming to Kastanjeplein and feels safe, happy and free to be themselves.
