Kabouter Spillebeen

Kabouter Spillebeen is a small-scale toddler care centre located in the heart of Oene, within the Kulturhus at Dorpsstraat 16. As part of Koppel-Swoe, an organisation that has provided childcare for over 40 years in the Epe municipality, we ensure quality, continuity and a warm, familiar environment where toddlers aged 2 to 4 can develop optimally. Throughout the year, we work with engaging themes that connect with the world of young children. For example, during the winter theme “brrr, it’s cold”, children discover how ice feels and melts, or during the spring theme with Dottie’s Eggs, toddlers craft a chick hatching from an egg. These themes come to life through storytelling, crafts, singing and circle time activities. In this playful way, children learn about seasons, animals, nature and emotions. Outdoor play is part of our daily routine. Our own enclosed and manageable outdoor area offers plenty of space to run, slide, dig in the sandbox or ride on balance bikes and tractors. We play with water in summer and build snowmen in winter. We also regularly take short trips in the neighbourhood, walking with a safety rope, to explore the surroundings of Oene. Our pedagogical staff provide a safe and familiar place every day, where children play, learn and develop at their own pace. We follow the ‘Startblokken’ method, which centres on the child’s world. This approach aligns with early childhood education (VVE), preparing children for primary school in a playful way. Kabouter Spillebeen is more than just childcare. We are rooted in the village and take part in local events such as the Oener Festival, where the children make a handmade garland for the party tent each year. In this way, children not only grow in their development but also in their connection to the community.
