International Playschool 'Little Europe'

International Playschool ‘Little Europe’ is a warm, multilingual daycare located on the grounds of the European School in Bergen (NH). We welcome up to 16 children aged 2 to 4 into a safe, home-like setting where personal attention is at the heart of everything we do. Since 2013, Elisabeth and Becky – native Dutch and English speakers – have been working together with joy and dedication. We design a stimulating weekly programme in which children naturally absorb both languages; French can also be introduced according to parents’ wishes. Our approach is theme-based. Each week we choose a fresh topic – seasons, emotions, colours, food – and weave it into stories, songs, arts-and-crafts, play and short outings such as feeding the farm animals across the road. Our own classroom opens directly onto the European School’s playgrounds and well-stocked library. The vibrant, international atmosphere enriches the children’s experience and celebrates cultural diversity every day. Structure and routine matter to us. The day runs from 08.45 to 13.05, with the option to extend until 16.15 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. A pictogram schedule on the door helps children recognise the flow of the day. During the communal lunch – for which parents provide healthy food – we practise table manners and language skills. Our holidays and training days follow the European School calendar.
