IK-OOK Borkel en Schaft

Welcome to IK-OOK Borkel en Schaft, a small-scale daycare centre in the heart of Borkel en Schaft. We are located inside primary school Servatius at Dorpsstraat 57, so our toddler group is literally part of the familiar school building. With a maximum of 16 places we offer a safe, manageable environment where children aged 2 to 4 prepare for primary school. Our spacious group room is directly connected to the kindergarten classroom; through an adjoining door toddlers and kindergartners regularly meet during joint play sessions. In this way our children become playfully familiar with the school surroundings. We use the nationally recognised early childhood education programme Startblokken. This means our pedagogical staff provide focused activities that stimulate language, numeracy and social skills in a playful way, while still leaving plenty of room for children’s own initiative and discovery. The school playground is our shared domain: toddlers play here together with kindergartners, learning from each other and making the eventual transition to kindergarten smooth. Our toddler group is organised as a horizontal group: children of the same age stay together. This allows us to tailor activities precisely to the developmental stage of 2- to 4-year-olds. We offer both full and half-day care, giving parents the flexibility to choose what suits their family best. Thanks to our small scale we know every child and every parent personally; short lines of communication and trust form the basis of our pedagogical partnership. In short, at IK-OOK Borkel en Schaft toddlers find a familiar place to play, learn and grow, right next to the school they will later attend.
