Hummeltjeshonk location Aremberg is a warm and small-scale daycare centre, located within the walls of primary school Aremberg at Julianastraat 2 in Zwartsluis. We provide care for up to 16 children aged 2 to 4 years, divided into one stable group. This setup ensures calm, familiarity and plenty of personal attention. As part of Stichting Kinderdagcentra Zwartewaterland (SKZ), we follow a clear pedagogical policy plan that puts the development of each child first. At Hummeltjeshonk location Aremberg we work with qualified, consistent pedagogical staff who create a safe and stimulating environment every day. Our approach is designed to make children feel emotionally secure, to respect their autonomy and to challenge them playfully in their motor, language and creative development. We offer subsidised early childhood education (VE), organising at least 10 hours of activities per week focused on language, numeracy, motor skills and social-emotional development. These activities are tailored to the world of toddlers and dovetail seamlessly with early-school education. Our space is cosily arranged with corners for role play, reading, building and crafts. We work with themes that connect to the children’s everyday experiences and use appropriate materials. There is a separate sleeping area for children who still need a nap, and we have a safe, green outdoor play area where children can run, explore and play. We believe it is important for children to learn how to live together: we practise taking turns, helping each other and listening to one another. This happens not only during play, but also at mealtimes, when we wait until everyone is ready and sing a song together. Parents are always welcome. We see good cooperation as essential for the well-being and development of the child. Therefore we actively inform and involve parents in our methods and in their child’s progress.
