KDV Het Zonnekind

Welcome to KDV Het Zonnekind, part of ISTIA Kinderopvang, located at Nachtegaallaan 49 in the centre of Ede. We provide care for children aged 2 to 4 in a homely, peaceful setting designed according to anthroposophical principles. Soft colours, natural materials and open-ended toys invite imagination and self-directed discovery. Each morning follows a gentle, predictable rhythm: circle time, free play, tidy-up together, communal snack of freshly baked organic bread – the children love kneading their own little roll – outdoor play and a closing circle. Singing, drawing with bees-wax crayons and celebrating birthdays and seasonal festivals are part of everyday life. Our approach is rooted in daily, weekly and yearly rhythms. Organic meals, respect for nature and experiencing how things are made are central themes. Baking bread together is a favourite: the children feel, smell and taste how flour, yeast and water slowly turn into delicious bread, discovering the connection between people, nature and food in a playful way. Our educators build warm, individual relationships with every child. We encourage initiative, foster independence and guide the first social encounters. Free play is sacred: here children process impressions, practise social skills and develop creativity.
