Welcome to Het Wonderbos, a small-scale daycare centre in the green heart of Appelscha. We provide care for up to 28 children aged 0 to 4 in a safe, homely setting where nature takes centre stage. Every day we take the children outside into our own discovery garden and on trips to the surrounding woods. There they can play with mud, collect seeds, pick berries and simply be children. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by the Forest School and Maria Montessori philosophies. We believe that children develop best when they are allowed to explore, experiment and make choices themselves. Our qualified pedagogical staff give each child individual attention and create a predictable daily structure with plenty of room for personal initiative. In this way we foster self-confidence, independence, resilience, communication and creativity. Inside we have separate sleeping areas for babies and toddlers, a warm meal freshly prepared every day, and fruit is always available. We work with horizontal groups: babies, toddlers and preschoolers each have their own age group, so activities and materials perfectly match their stage of development. A before- and after-school care group for older children will also start soon. In short, at Het Wonderbos children grow up in harmony with nature and with themselves.
