Welcome to KDV het Schommeltje, located at Kerkstraat 243 in the heart of Hoogezand. We offer small-scale, homely childcare for up to six children aged 0 to 4. In our vertical group, babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers grow up together as one big, warm family. Cosiness is our hallmark. Children are free to choose what they want to do: sing and dance in the living room, craft at the big table or pick a book from the shelf. We believe this freedom builds self-confidence and independence. Our pedagogical staff are ready to guide when needed, but first let children explore and try for themselves. Our spacious, green garden is a true play oasis. Here children can romp safely, bake sand pies or go on discovery trips together. We regularly visit the petting zoo, city park or playground so the outside world becomes part of their daily development. We deliberately keep groups small so every child receives the attention they deserve. Our bedrooms offer peace and regularity; the fixed daily rhythm helps children feel safe and secure. Sleeping, eating and playing are tuned to your child’s personal rhythm. At het Schommeltje we value social development as much as motor or language skills. Mixed ages let children learn from each other: older toddlers help the babies and the little ones look admiringly at the big kids. This way they naturally practise consideration, cooperation and comforting each other. Our team has completed a Positive Parenting course. We set clear, friendly boundaries and mainly explain what is allowed. This brings calm and clarity. Your child will feel at home with us – coming to het Schommeltje with pleasure is our greatest compliment.
