KDV Het Lijsternest

Kinderdagverblijf Het Lijsternest is a daycare centre operated by gro-up in the De Leyens district of Zoetermeer. We are located in an old, monumental farmhouse at Hitchcockstrook 24. The wooden beams, authentic barn doors and special windows give our site a cosy, homely atmosphere. We have four spacious group rooms, each designed for a specific age group. Babies lie and play on soft mats with plenty of development materials within reach. Our toddler groups feature doll corners, car corners and construction corners where children learn through play. Outside we have our own vegetable patch in the De Leyens neighbourhood garden. Here various vegetables and fruits grow. The children discover that vegetables come from the land, not from the supermarket. When the weather is nice we eat lunch outside and pick strawberries or apples for a tasty snack. In addition, we have a specially designed nature garden where toddlers play outside every day, cycling and running in the sand. Babies are also taken outside as much as possible to enjoy fresh air and discover nature. We work with four-week themes. Each month the children learn new words and concepts related to the theme in a playful way. From the age of three we regularly visit primary school ’t Plankier, so the transition later on will be small. The after-school care, KIDSclub and language playhouse are also located on our premises, so children are already familiar with the site when they turn four.
