Hero Peuteropvang Vilniusstraat

Welcome to Hero Peuteropvang Vilniusstraat, located in the modern Wijzer building at Vilniusstraat 2 in Haarlem. Our toddler care centre is a warm and homely place where children aged 2 to 4 grow and learn through play. The space we occupy is bright and inviting, with large floor-to-ceiling windows. Three of these windows feature extra-deep window sills where children love to sit on cushions to play or look at books. The wooden floor adds to the cosy atmosphere. Our location is part of the Wijzer building, which also houses the Mgr. Huibersschool and Youth Health Care (JGZ). This makes our building a meeting place for parents from the neighbourhood. Most parents know each other from school or the local area, creating a familiar and social environment. Outside, we have a large playground that we share with the school's kindergarten classes. This playground offers plenty of opportunities for movement and discovery. Children can enjoy riding bikes and scooters, climbing and clambering on the climbing frame, or playing in the sandbox. There are also climbing balls and flowers to sit on. We believe it's important for children to play outside a lot, so they can burn off energy and gain new experiences. We work with the VVE programme Uk & Puk, a recognised learning and play programme specially developed for toddlers. This programme offers varied themes that connect with young children's world of experience. Think of themes such as seasons, animals, traffic or emotions. Through songs, stories, games and craft activities, children develop their language skills, social skills and self-confidence in a playful way. Children who need extra support receive a helping hand in their development through VVE. Our pedagogical staff are trained to follow and stimulate each child's development. We provide a safe and familiar environment where children can be themselves and discover where their talents lie. We believe it's important for children to learn to play together, share and take each other into account. These skills form an important basis for the transition to primary school. We have close cooperation with the Mgr. Huibersschool. Twice a week, our toddlers play outside together with the kindergarteners. We also celebrate King's Day and Sinterklaas together with the school. On St Martin's Day, we go to a nearby nursing home to sing songs. These activities make the transition to primary school even smoother. When the kindergarten teachers organise a coffee morning, parents from our toddler care are also very welcome. Hero kindercentra is a social childcare organisation without profit motive. We reinvest our profits back into the organisation, into the children and into our staff.
