Groen Knollenland

Welcome to Groen Knollenland, our daycare centre located in a historic school building on Slachthuislaan 25 in Leiden’s Groenoord district. Inside, high windows flood the space with light and provide plenty of room to play; outside, a large green playground with sandpit, slide, scooters and bikes invites children to explore every day. At Groen Knollenland a consistent team of professional staff guide toddlers aged 2-4 in small, same-age groups. We offer pre-school education (VE), introducing early language, numeracy and social skills through play. Parents are regularly invited to join activities such as singing, crafts or story time, strengthening the link between home and daycare. Once a month the Centre for Youth and Family holds an open consultation hour on site, giving parents direct access to parenting advice and support. We believe children learn best when they can move freely between indoor and outdoor environments. Our spacious garden encourages running, cycling, sand play and nature discovery, while inside cosy corners and themed areas support quiet moments and creative play. Every detail is tailored to toddlers: safe, colourful and engaging. In short, Groen Knollenland is a homely setting for up to 16 toddlers each day. We work closely with parents, provide a secure environment and ensure every child has the space to develop at their own pace.
