Freekids Peuterspelen Het Eiland

Welcome to Freekids Peuterspelen Het Eiland, located on the ground floor of primary school Het Eiland at P.A. van Meverstraat 1 in Zaandam. Our Peuterspelen is part of the Integral Child Centre (IKC) Het Eiland, where we work closely with the primary school and after-school care. This ensures a smooth continuous learning line from 2 to 13 years within one familiar environment. Our home group accommodates up to 14 toddlers per session, cared for by two regular pedagogical professionals. We work with horizontal groups, meaning children aged 2 to 4 are together in one group. The space is specially designed as a play-and-learn environment with different corners: a construction/car corner, a fantasy/home corner, a reading/cuddle corner, a table for puzzles and games, a discovery table and flexible corners we can fill in ourselves. This allows children to both actively explore and quietly retreat. We offer three types of placement options. For working parents, there is the childcare place of four hours per day. For non-working parents, there are the regular toddler places, where children come two sessions per week. Finally, there are ECEC places (Early Childhood Education and Care) for children aged 2.5 to 4 with an indication from Centrum Jong. These children come four sessions per week and receive 960 hours of ECEC, in accordance with the legal standard. Our pedagogical policy aims to stimulate children's development through play. We work with the ECEC program Pyramid, which focuses on language stimulation and social skills. We also offer activities such as drawing, painting, crafts, building, dancing and movement. We also pay attention to developing social skills and the Dutch language. Outdoor play is an important part of our offering; we use the fully enclosed schoolyard with sandbox and play equipment. Parents are actively involved in their child's development. We organize four themed meetings per year, provided by Centrum Jong, where parents receive information about parenting and development. Every morning there is a play-in where parents can join a joint activity. Communication goes through our parent portal, where parents receive at least one message with a photo daily about their child's experiences. Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. We work closely with primary school Het Eiland, allowing children to smoothly transition to the kindergarten class after Peuterspelen. In short, at Freekids Peuterspelen Het Eiland we offer a safe, familiar and stimulating environment where every child can grow and flourish at their own pace.
