Freekids Peuterspelen de Watermolen

Welcome to Freekids Peuterspelen de Watermolen, located at Molenwerf 1e in the quiet Westerkoog district of Koog aan de Zaan. We provide small-scale, horizontal toddler groups for children aged 2 to 4. Each weekday starts at 8:30 AM with a play-in session where parents can play together with their child. This is followed by a welcome circle using a choice board to outline the day’s activities. Our pedagogical staff follow the VVE programme Piramide. This programme fosters language development, social skills and school readiness through thematic work. At the end of every period we organise an exhibition where parents can view the children’s crafts and theme materials. Before each new theme parents receive a newsletter with tips for continuing the learning at home. The daily rhythm is clear and calm: after sharing fruit and a drink we go outside to our secure, fenced garden featuring a slide, swing and sandpit. Indoors we offer guided activities such as crafts, circle games and dancing, always tailored to the toddler’s developmental stage. At 12:15 PM parents are welcomed back and we close at 12:30 PM. Parental involvement is highly valued. Every morning we make active contact, ask about the child and explain how parents can link up with our approach at home. This creates a continuous learning line from home to the toddler group and on to the kindergarten class of De Watermolen primary school, with whom we work closely.
