KDV Duimelot

Welcome to KDV Duimelot, located at Sint Stephanusstraat 5 in the heart of Zenderen. Since 29 August 1994 we have been providing trusted and professional childcare for the very youngest. Our day-care centre is part of Kinderopvang Duimelot Zenderen, a private company fully inspired by the vision of Emmi Pikler. This pedagogy starts from the competent child: your baby, toddler or pre-schooler is given the space to move, play and discover on his or her own initiative. We work with five horizontal day-care groups: baby, baby-toddler, toddler, pre-schooler and pre-schooler-plus. This keeps every age group in a familiar environment with peers. The baby group accommodates up to 8 children from 0 to ± 18 months, the toddler group welcomes up to 11 children from ± 18 to 33 months and the pre-school group guides up to 14 children from ± 33 months to 4 years. Each group has its own prepared space with specially developed climbing and clambering materials that can be used freely and independently. Our pedagogical staff offer genuine, undivided attention during care and play. Every child is also assigned a fixed mentor who provides the most guidance, care and observation. At Duimelot we believe movement and being outdoors are essential. Every day we go outside: playing in our own garden or taking a lovely walk through the woods. Outdoor sleeping is also an option. Children are offered two fruit or vegetable moments, a hot meal and, up to the age of 1, a bread meal. Nappies and food are included; for a special diet we ask you to provide your own food. Communication with parents takes place via our digital transfer system 'Duimelot Parent Portal', where experiences and photos are shared. Together we create a warm, safe and secure place where your child can develop optimally. We warmly welcome you and your child to our close and committed childcare!
