De Tuinkabouter

Welcome to daycare De Tuinkabouter, located in the child-friendly and green Tuindorp district of Utrecht. Our daycare is part of Kind & Co Ludens and offers a warm and safe environment for children aged 0 to 4. We are housed in the ‘Hof van Bemmelen’ forum, in close collaboration with primary school De Paulusschool. This unique location offers plenty of space to play, explore and grow. At De Tuinkabouter we work with horizontal groups: two baby groups for the youngest children and one toddler group for toddlers and preschoolers. The doors of our living rooms are open, so children can choose where, with whom and with what they want to play. On our central piazza, all ages come together to play and meet. We believe in the power of free play and structured activities. Every day we go outside: in our garden children can climb, slide, build sandcastles, look for ladybugs and worms. Nature experience is an important part of our daily routine. Our daycare is a location with early childhood education (VE). For children with a VE indication, we pay extra attention to the Dutch language: speaking, listening and learning new words. We use language games, reading aloud, drawing, singing and movement. In this way we prepare toddlers for primary school in a playful way. We also regularly offer creative activities such as crafts and cooking, using self-harvested vegetables from the garden. We find it important that children can make their own choices and that they are challenged to discover new things. Care and rest are central. For babies we provide bottle feeding, diapers and care products. Toddlers receive a healthy bread meal with fruit and drinks. We take allergies and dietary requirements into account. Each child has their own bedroom or rest area, so they can sleep when they need to. Our pedagogical staff are professional and involved, and give each child the attention and care they need. In short: at De Tuinkabouter children grow up in a safe, green and stimulating environment, where playing, learning and development go hand in hand.
