De Toverboom

Welcome to De Toverboom, a small-scale daycare centre located at Broekweg 23 in Valkenburg. We provide care for up to 23 children in two vertical groups of 12 children each, where babies, toddlers and preschoolers play and learn together. By deliberately keeping our groups small we safeguard peace and individual attention; whenever necessary we schedule more staff than the statutory ratio requires. Our educational philosophy is inspired by the insights of respected pedagogues such as Alfie Kohn, Rudolf Steiner, Thomas Gordon, Emmi Pikler, Maria Montessori and Aletha Solter. This results in a warm, homely atmosphere that mirrors family life. Children take part in daily activities like baking bread, harvesting from our vegetable garden, sweeping the yard and hanging laundry. These practical experiences not only stimulate fine-motor skills but also foster responsibility and togetherness. De Toverboom has a spacious garden that invites outdoor play and nature exploration. Every day there is room for free discovery in this safe, green environment. Because we work with permanent carers, children grow up in trust and familiarity, which forms the basis for their development. Our door is always open for parents who wish to experience our approach and atmosphere first-hand.
