KDV De Speuldeel

Welcome to daycare De Speuldeel, located on the active farm of the Scheper family at Mr. J.B. Kanweg 8A in Witteveen. Since 2013, we have been offering a unique form of childcare where children grow up in a real farm environment with laying hens, arable farming, and various animals. Our location is centrally situated between Assen, Emmen, and Hoogeveen, surrounded by the peace and space of the Drenthe countryside. We are a small-scale daycare with room for up to 32 children, divided into two horizontal age groups. In the morning, we provide care for 14 children aged 0-2 downstairs and 16 children aged 2-4 upstairs. In the afternoon, we combine these groups into one group of up to 16 children aged 0-4. This setup ensures that each child receives the personal attention they deserve, while still having the opportunity to play and learn with different age groups. Our outdoor playground is spaciously designed with natural play elements such as a sandbox, a hill to roll down, and an animal meadow with various animals. Children can play and explore freely here in a safe manner. For safety, the childcare area is clearly separated from the agricultural business, but under the guidance of our pedagogical staff, children regularly get acquainted with farm life. They can feed the chickens, pet the rabbit, and watch farmer Roel Jan work with his shovel. Learning to interact with animals, spending lots of time outdoors, and having space to grow - that's what De Speuldeel stands for. We believe this agricultural environment provides a perfect foundation for the development of young children.
