De Speeldoos

Welcome to De Speeldoos daycare, located at Mozartstraat 2a in Gorinchem-East. We are part of Stichting Kindercentra Gorinchem (SKG) and have provided a warm, safe and small-scale environment for children from 8 weeks to 4 years since 2010. Housed in a former infant school, we operate five groups, each in its own room. We use horizontal groups: two baby/toddler groups and one preschool group, so every child is surrounded by peers while still having space to develop at their own pace. Our large, naturally designed garden is a true discovery zone. With stepping stones, a sandbox, willow tunnel and climbing house, children can let off steam and explore the outdoors. Indoors we have a play hall that we use daily as both a movement room and a creative studio. Here toddlers can play with friends while younger children have plenty of space to crawl. We organise toddler gym, clay work, finger painting and other activities that connect with young children's world of experience. At De Speeldoos we believe children develop through play. Play is their way of making sense of the world. We follow the child's rhythm: babies and toddlers get all the time and rest they need to sleep, feed and play according to their own schedule. Preschoolers, on the other hand, have a fixed daily structure with shared moments such as fruit time, bread meals and outdoor play. Parents receive daily photos and messages through our parent app so you can follow your child's experiences. We are a healthy childcare location: fresh vegetable snacks, fruit and a responsible bread meal are on the menu every day. Our pedagogical staff provide personal attention and a familiar feeling so you can go to work with peace of mind.
