Welcome to KDV De Ontdekking, located in the heart of Hoogezand at Jan Huitzingstraat 4. Since August 2016, we have been providing daycare for children aged 0 to 4 years in the former Van Heemskerck school. Our daycare center is part of KAKA Kinderopvang and works closely with the adjacent primary school OBS De Ontdekking, ensuring a smooth transition from childcare to education. At KDV De Ontdekking, your child is the main focus. Our motto is: “Your child is the leading actor”. We offer a safe, homely environment where children can explore the world through play. Our experienced pedagogical staff guide the children with great care and attention. We work with horizontal groups, where children of similar ages come together. This provides peace, recognition, and optimal development. We have two baby groups for children aged 0 to 2 years and two toddler groups for children aged 2 to 4 years. Each group has its own mentor assigned, who specifically follows the development and well-being of your child. The mentor is your fixed point of contact and keeps track of progress through the child tracking system KIJK. This gives you insight into your child's development and allows us to provide the best care together. Within our location, there is a strong focus on natural materials and outdoor play. We have our own garden with a sandbox and a discovery garden where children can play with natural elements. We aim to be outside at least once a day for at least 20 minutes. Inside, the spaces are set up with different play corners that are regularly enriched based on the children's interests. Think of a construction corner, a home corner, a reading corner, and a craft corner. We work thematically and offer activities that connect with the world of young children. Think of reading aloud, singing, dancing, crafting, and discovering. We also pay attention to language development through preschool education (VE), so your child gets a good foundation for primary school. We believe it is important that children feel safe and enjoy learning and discovering. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30. Extended care before 07:30 is available on request. We work with a parent app through which you can easily swap days or request extra care. You can also receive photos and messages about your child's day through the app. KDV De Ontdekking is a place where your child feels at home. We work together with you to create a safe and stimulating environment in which your child can grow and flourish optimally.
