De Nieuwsgierige Aapjes

Welcome to De Nieuwsgierige Aapjes Daycare, located at It Achterbosk 19b in the green heart of Stiens. We are a small-scale daycare centre where a maximum of ten children are cared for at the same time in one vertical group from 0 to 4 years old. Our homely building is situated in a quiet street and has a spacious, naturally designed garden with a partly covered play area, a sandbox without edges, a lawn, fruit trees and a vegetable garden. Here children can search for gnomes and elves, plant bulbs and discover the entire growing process. When the apples are ripe, the children pick them themselves and we bake apple pie or apple turnovers together. Natural development is central to us. We are inspired by the insights of Rudolf Steiner, Maria Montessori and Emmi Pikler and combine these with a Frisian-down-to-earth view on parenting. Our pedagogical staff provide each child with emotional and physical safety, so that they can develop freely at their own pace. We work with familiar faces, a fixed mentor for each child and apply the four-eyes principle. Every day we play outside at least twice; in nice weather we have a picnic with fresh fruit and in hot weather we use sprinklers and water tubs. Everything your child needs is included with us: nappies, water wipes, organic baby food, a freshly prepared hot lunch, fruit, snacks, bread, drinks and even sunscreen. For children who still sleep, we only ask you to bring your own sleeping bag (and possibly a dummy). The bedroom is quietly furnished and equipped with baby monitors with sound and image. Nappy changes take place at fixed times and always in between when necessary; we use Etos nappies and water wipes. Toddlers who are ready can start potty training in a playful way, in coordination with home. De Nieuwsgierige Aapjes Daycare is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:30. We use fixed drop-off and pick-up times to provide peace and regularity. Upon registration we schedule an intake interview and three settling-in sessions of half a day, guided by your child's personal mentor. Communication is via our parent app, where you receive daily photos and messages and where you can compensate days yourself or pass on changes.
