De Eekhoorn

Welcome to De Eekhoorn daycare centre at Sterrenlaan 164 in Alphen aan den Rijn. Our homely building accommodates 60 children aged 0 to 4 years. The central play room is the beating heart of our location; all groups come together here to play, read and make friends for life. This space encourages interaction and offers plenty of opportunities for discovery and imagination. Behind the building lies our natural garden with a real barefoot path. Children can walk barefoot across wood, pebbles, grass and other materials, stimulating their senses. The garden also features a sandbox and a separate, safe spot for the very youngest to romp around. We are proud of this green environment that invites outdoor play and nature experience. Our activity programme is wide-ranging and tailored to young children’s curiosity. Every week our pedagogical employee Samantha leads toddler dance; a cheerful session in which children move to music and develop their motor skills. Every Thursday we take a group of toddlers swimming at De Hoorn pool, where they gain water confidence and swimming skills in a playful way. In addition, we regularly visit the library and meet elderly people in Driehoorne and Oudshoorn. These encounters teach children to interact with different generations and broaden their social horizon. At De Eekhoorn we offer Early Childhood Education (ECE). This programme focuses on language development and gives children a solid foundation for their future school career through play. Our pedagogical staff provide a warm, safe environment in which every child is given space to develop at their own pace. We use horizontal groups, so children play and learn within an age group. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30; early care from 07:00 is available on request.
