Dak JFK

Dak JFK is our Montessori daycare centre located on the ground floor of the JFK Child Centre at Gradaland 5 in The Hague. As a fully integrated part of the centre, we work closely with the John F. Kennedy Montessori School, allowing children aged 0-4 to grow up in one familiar environment and become acquainted with school life at an early age. Parents who choose our daycare are given priority for placement at the school. At Dak JFK we follow the vision of DAK Child Centres: giving children the space to develop at their own pace into independent, self-aware and curious individuals. Our pedagogical professionals provide a prepared environment in which materials and activities match each child’s natural urge to learn. We observe, guide and stimulate where necessary, so that every child can grow and flourish safely. Our premises consist of four fixed groups, each with its own room and stable group composition. The Roos (0-4 years) accommodates 12 children, Teddy (0-2 years) 8 children, Bella (2-4 years) 16 children and the Joey’s (2-4 years, pre-school education) also 16 children. This horizontal grouping ensures calm and recognisability for the children. The school’s internal supervisor also acts as our pedagogical coach, creating one continuous line of guidance from baby to toddler. A special experience at Dak JFK is outdoor sleeping. Our babies can sleep safely and confidently in one of the four outdoor cribs in the fresh air. The natural stimuli of light, sound and weather conditions promote sensory development and contribute to better sleep. The large, green schoolyard also invites exploration: running, climbing, sand and water play, and even a chicken coop where children learn to care for animals. At lunchtime we serve a warm, nutritious meal. This lunch is carefully prepared, low in sugar and salt, and gives children the energy they need to get through the day. Eating together is a social and educational moment where new flavours are discovered. In short, Dak JFK is a safe, warm place where children aged 0-4 can develop within a close-knit team of dedicated pedagogical professionals and in close collaboration with the JF Kennedy Montessori School.
