KDV Broekhem

Welcome to Kinderdagverblijf Broekhem, located at Keelstraat 3 in the heart of Valkenburg. From 6 weeks to 4 years we offer small-scale childcare where every child is given the space to play, discover and grow at his or her own pace. We are part of MIK & Spelenderwijs and work closely with primary school OBS Broekhem within the Kind Centrum, creating a familiar, continuous line from baby to toddler. Our two groups are horizontally arranged: one group for children aged 0 to 2.5 years and one group for children aged 2 to 4 years. Each group room is carefully designed for maximum play fun: from building and crafting to relaxing on the soft sensory mat for the very youngest. We consciously use age-specific materials and activities, so that babies can discover in peace and toddlers are challenged in their development. Outside, our spacious gardens welcome every child: the quiet baby garden offers safety and security, while the toddler garden invites running, climbing and adventure. We go out every day – rain or shine – and use the forest as our backyard. Nature experience is natural for us: together with the children we feel leaves, smell flowers and listen to birds. We regularly make short excursions to the nursing home to sing, read aloud or simply craft together with the elderly. The encounter between generations is invaluable. Pedagogically, we work from Early Childhood Education (VVE). Our program ‘Speelplezier’ stimulates speech, language, social, cognitive, motor and creative skills in a playful way. During the daily routine there is room for rest, food and care. For the very youngest we provide bottle feeding, change diapers and offer soft sleeping areas. Toddlers practice independent eating and drinking and are given time to rest in our cozy beds. All in a homely atmosphere where every child feels safe and seen. In short: at KDV Broekhem, children aged 0 to 4 find a second home where learning, playing and growing come together.
