KC het Rozenpoortje

Welcome to KC het Rozenpoortje, our small-scale daycare centre at Kerkraderweg 9 in Heerlen. We provide care for up to 14 children from 0 to 4 years in a homely, anthroposophy-inspired setting. Our vertical grouping brings babies, toddlers and preschoolers together, allowing the youngest to mirror the older ones while the older children learn to care for the little ones. The Rozenpoortje’s pedagogical vision is guided by anthroposophy: we want every child to become who he or she truly is. We do this by offering a gentle rhythm that alternates activity and rest, indoors and outdoors. The day begins with free play, followed by a shared moment of singing, storytelling and circle games. Then we head outside: in our natural garden with berry bushes, a sandpit and a climbing tree, children can romp, garden or simply lie in the grass. When the little ones get tired, they nap outdoors in the fresh air under a shade sail; older children can rest inside in the quiet room. Creative expression is central. We work with natural materials such as beeswax, wool and wood; children paint with watercolours, knead bread dough or make seasonal pieces for the nature table. Language develops playfully through rhymes, songs and acting out fairy tales. We read picture books daily that match the season’s theme. Attention to silence and mindfulness is also part of the day: breathing together, lighting a candle or moving stones in a mandala helps children find inner calm. Practical matters are taken care of. Nappies, wipes and care products are included, as is a healthy snack of fresh fruit and whole-grain bread. If your child has a special diet (for example vegetarian or lactose-free), we adapt our menu accordingly. Bottle feeding is provided on request; breast milk can be supplied if preferred. Pre-school education is embedded through the ‘Startblokken’ method, playfully stimulating language and numeracy skills so your child starts primary school with confidence. In short, at KC het Rozenpoortje children grow up in a warm nest where wonder, calm and development at their own pace are central.
