Kastanjetuin

Welcome to Peuteropvang (toddler care) Kastanjetuin, located at St. Josephstraat 3 right in the centre of Breda. We are part of Kober, a professional organisation that connects more than 200 locations across West-Brabant, yet on this spot it feels small and familiar. Our toddler group is literally inside primary school St. Joseph, which means your child already makes the step to kindergarten while still a toddler. The school’s teachers walk through every day, so the children already know the corridors, the playground and the voices. Outside we have our own green garden and access to St. Joseph’s spacious playground. Toddlers can build huts, make sandcastles or simply run around. Because we are in the city centre, we pay extra attention to traffic: through play the toddlers learn how to stop, look and cross the road. We are proud of our Green Light certificate for this programme. No two days at Kastanjetuin are the same. One moment we dress up as pirates and build a ship from cushions, the next we are on the floor with finger paint or making music with homemade instruments. Pedagogical staff member Sofia puts it like this: “Toddlers are curious; this is the perfect moment to let them discover colours, shapes, sounds and words in a playful way.” We work with a clear, continuous learning and play line that links to Early Childhood Education (VVE). We practise not only fine motor skills and language, but also playing together, taking turns and naming emotions. Healthy food matters to us: every day the children receive a tasty, healthy snack and plenty to drink. Allergies and dietary wishes are discussed personally with parents. Through the Parent App we keep you updated with a photo or a short message, so you can still feel involved.
