Jan Ligthart

Welcome to our daycare centre at Jan Ligthart in The Hague. We provide care for the very youngest from ten weeks old in home-like, vertical groups where children aged 0-4 play and grow together. Our pedagogical staff create a safe, warm environment in which every child is given space to develop at his or her own pace. We work from the idea that children of different ages learn a lot from each other. In our vertical groups, the very youngest crawl, toddle and run through the same spaces as the toddlers and pre-schoolers. The youngest watch the older children wide-eyed; the toddlers develop caring and patience while helping the babies or simply sitting next to them. The pedagogical staff guide these natural interactions and ensure that every child receives the right stimuli and rest. Learning through play is central. We sing songs, read picture books and make small works of art together. The large garden is a real discovery place: whoever wants to can sleep outside in the fresh air, bake sand cakes or just run around. We offer a fixed daily routine with plenty of room for personal initiative. Children sleep in separate sleeping areas, but those who prefer can also nap in the garden or on the terrace in the pram. Parents experience an open, personal approach. We share photos and short messages via our app, so you can follow your child’s daily rhythm. Does your baby have a feeding or sleeping schedule? We follow it exactly. Special dietary requirements or allergies? No problem. Together we ensure that your child feels safe, happy and at home with us at Jan Ligthart.
