Islamitische Kindercentrum Al Medina

Welcome to the after-school care (BSO) of Islamitisch Kindercentrum Al Medina, located at Terwestenstraat 105 in The Hague. We are part of the very first Islamic childcare centre in the Netherlands, which opened its doors on 10 January 2022. Thanks to our close partnership with the Islamic primary school Al Qoeba – situated at the same address – we provide a seamless educational and care pathway in which identity, culture and religion take centre stage. Our BSO is designed for children aged 4 to 13. We are open 49 weeks a year. On school days we welcome children from 15:00 to 18:30; on Fridays already from 12:00. During school holidays and study days (ADV days) all children are welcome from 08:00 to 18:30. We are closed only on official public holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha; parents are informed well in advance. At IKC Al Medina we work daily from our Islamic identity. Our qualified pedagogical staff consciously focus on values that match the home situation of our families. We teach children how to be proud of their culture and religion and how to participate fully in Dutch society. Our approach is based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet, peace be upon him. Safety and hygiene are self-evident for us. We apply the four-eyes-and-ears principle, our spaces are arranged transparently and we only work with certified pedagogical employees who put our six core skills into practice. Every year we carry out a Risk Assessment for Safety and Health and we are supervised by the GGD Haaglanden. We offer a warm, homely atmosphere in which every child feels seen and valued. Parents experience us as involved, caring and professional. Together with you we give your child the space to grow into an active, resilient and happy citizen.
