BSO Eelde IKC De Westerburcht

Welcome to BSO Eelde IKC De Westerburcht, the place for after-school care right in the centre of Eelde. We are located at Jan Steenweg 1, on the campus of Integral Child Centre De Westerburcht, and provide care for up to 132 children aged 4 to 13. As part of Kids First, we work closely with the primary school and form one close-knit team for both education and childcare. Our children come from the immediate surroundings: the Bloemenbuurt, Spierveen and throughout Eelde-Paterswolde. Everything we do revolves around fun, relaxation and development after school. We offer a varied activity programme that ties in with the four seasons, holidays and themes that matter to the children. Think cooking and baking, sports, games and exercise, technology, chess and theatre workshops. We make full use of the spacious, modern facilities of the IKC: learning plazas, classrooms with interactive whiteboards and a beautiful garden we share with the school. We regularly head out into the wider world; trips to the local petting farm are a favourite. Every child has a permanent mentor who is the first point of contact for both child and parent. The mentor keeps a close eye on development and tailors activities to talents and interests. We work with home groups, but children may also rotate so they get to know all their peers. For the youngest groups (4-6 years) we pick the children up from school if needed; older children walk to the after-school room independently. During holidays and study days we are open all day, so parents are always assured of care. Our pedagogical staff are ready every day with a listening ear, a helping hand and a smile. We believe it is important that children feel safe and seen, have room to discover who they are and learn how to interact with others. Together we turn every afternoon into a party!
