Welcome to IKC De Schakel daycare centre, located at Van Boisotstraat 20 in the heart of Vlaardingen’s Westwijk district. We provide full-day care for children aged 0 to 4 in a warm, Christian child-centre where education and childcare blend seamlessly. Our mission is for every child to feel safe, seen and accepted so they can bring out the very best in themselves. Everything we do centres on a continuous developmental pathway. From the very first baby months right through to toddler age, our pedagogical staff and teachers work closely together. Children are placed in stable, age-specific groups so that each child receives the calm and stimulation suited to his or her stage. Our theme of ‘internationalisation’ is brought to life through stories, songs and encounters in which we show respect for every culture, religion and way of life, thereby broadening the horizons of our youngest residents from an early age. Social-emotional development is key. We teach children to make independent choices, to cooperate and to take responsibility for their own actions. Play-based learning, language development and pre-school education flow naturally into one another. Our spacious, green outdoor area offers each group its own safe playground; even the very youngest can explore in a secure garden. The modern, energy-neutral building is designed with bright learning plazas and gentle transitions between common areas and group rooms, allowing children to take new steps in a familiar environment.
