IKC de Michaël

We are IKC de Michaël, located at Hercules Seghersstraat 3 in the Huizum district of Leeuwarden. Since 2022 we have formed one Integrated Child Centre (IKC) Michaël together with the playgroup and after-school care De Kleine Johannes. Our after-school care (BSO) provides out-of-school care for up to 15 children aged 4 to 12. As part of Stichting Kinderopvang Friesland we work from an anthroposophical perspective, based on the pedagogical ideas of Rudolf Steiner. The care seamlessly matches the school hours of the connected Michaëlschool, the only Free Waldorf primary school in the province of Friesland. Children can come to us for before-school care, lunch care and after-school care. Lunch care takes place in the school building, supervised by the school team; before- and after-school care are provided in and around the adjacent building of De Kleine Johannes. Our aim is to care for and guide children from 1.5 to 13 years within one educational and pedagogical concept, under one daily management. We offer a safe, familiar environment where children can relax after school, play with peers and take part in activities that match their development and interests. Through the close cooperation between school and childcare we create a continuous line in the guidance of your child.
