IKC De Klimboom

Welcome to IKC De Klimboom, located at Wilhelminastraat 19 in the centre of Vlaardingen. As an Integral Child Centre we are part of Wijzer and combine childcare and education under one roof. For children aged 2 to 4 we offer toddler care in a small-scale, homely environment. Our toddler care focuses on letting children learn and develop through play. Every child is free to explore in his or her own way and at his or her own pace. We work with horizontal groups, so children can play with peers in a calm setting. The groups are deliberately kept small, allowing our pedagogical staff to truly see and hear each child. We stand for a personal approach: we get to know your child and your family so we can meet your child’s needs. Our location has spacious indoor and outdoor play areas. Outside, children can let off steam in a safe garden specially designed for the youngest children. Inside, everything is arranged at child height, with cosy corners for reading, a construction area, a home corner and an atelier where we regularly do crafts and painting. We work thematically; a theme might be ‘the forest’, ‘animals’ or ‘the seasons’. During the theme we read books, sing songs and make short trips in the immediate area. We believe it is important that children feel safe and at home. That is why we have fixed daily routines: we start with a circle time, followed by free play and then a shared fruit moment. Around 11.30 a.m. we eat bread and drink milk or water. After that it is rest time; children who still nap can lie down on a bed in our quiet bedroom. Toddler care is open Monday to Friday from 08.20 to 13.50. Half-days are therefore possible. Together with parents we provide warm childcare. We use the Parro app to share photos and messages so you can see what is happening in the group. Parents are always welcome to drop by or help with activities.
