IKC De Horst

IKC De Horst is located at Postweg 43a in De Wijk and is part of Stichting Kindcentra Wolderwijs. In our Integral Child Centre we combine education and childcare under one roof, so that children aged 4 to 13 can stay in the same familiar environment after school. Our after-school care accommodates up to 60 children. The pedagogical staff of Wolderwijs work closely with the primary-school teachers. Because of this, we know every child well and can connect to what the pupil experienced during the day. The activities are designed to let children relax, learn through play and stimulate their social and emotional development. The rooms used for the after-school programme are attractively furnished and located in the same wing as the classrooms. Children can choose quiet corners for reading or building, but there is also plenty of opportunity to play outside on the schoolyard and in the immediate surroundings. When the weather is nice we use the green space around the building; when the weather is bad the indoor areas provide enough challenge. During holidays and study days we remain open. Parents can then make use of our holiday care, which offers a varied programme including creative workshops, sports and games activities and small excursions in the region. We align our opening hours with the school schedule of IKC De Horst so that parents always have childcare when they are at work. Our team is ready every weekday to give children a great time after school. We believe it is important that children feel safe, seen and valued. That is why we work from trust, involvement and fun.
