Club Basker IKC - Binnenstebuiten

Welcome to BSO IKC Binnenstebuiten, located at Plaza 127 in the heart of Huissen. We are part of Chapeau Kinderwerk and provide after-school care for up to 130 children aged 4 to 13. Our BSO is housed within the Integral Child Centre Binnenstebuiten, so children already feel at home in the spaces and on the outdoor grounds. Our qualified pedagogical staff, Judith and Riemke, welcome the children every weekday from 14:30 onwards in the central hall. This area has a warm, homely atmosphere with a large kitchen counter, communal tables and a cosy lounge corner. Children can play freely, do crafts, read a book or join the activity we offer that day. We work with two base groups of up to 22 children each. Within these groups friendships develop and children have a trusted place, while still being free to explore activities in other rooms. Besides the central hall we have a play/movement room and the group 8 classroom which we set up as a creative/technology space. Outdoors, children can let off steam on our green yard with a sandpit, football pitch and pens for rabbits and chickens. We also regularly visit the adjacent playground. Our activity programme is broad and child-centred: from woodworking, cooking and baking to music, dance, drama and technology. We link up with current themes such as seasons, health and annual celebrations. Children actively help decide the programme, ensuring we truly connect with their world of experience. During holidays we join forces with BSO Geldermalsen and organise joint excursions. Structure and predictability underpin our daily rhythm. After school, children first enjoy a quiet snack and drink, then they can play freely or take part in an activity. Around 16:15 there is a light meal. We operate a mentor system: every parent and child has a dedicated pedagogical worker as a point of contact who follows the child’s development and helps choose suitable activities. Sustainability and health are high on our agenda. We sort waste, follow the ‘Wheel of Five’ dietary guidelines and go outside every day. In short, at BSO IKC Binnenstebuiten children have the space to relax, discover and grow in a safe, challenging environment.
