Kindercentrum Hoogholtje

Welcome to Kindercentrum Hoogholtje, a warm and small-scale daycare centre on the ground floor of IKC Hoogholtje at Mernaweg 55A in Wehe-den Hoorn. We provide care for up to 16 children aged 0 to 4 in one vertical group. Growing up together with younger and older peers, children learn from each other and develop natural social skills. Our pedagogical staff – Wendy, Francisca, Marielle and Marga – are the familiar faces who know every baby and toddler personally. For the very youngest we apply the fixed-face criterion: at least two trusted staff members are always present when children under 1 year are in the group. This provides calm, recognition and secure attachment. A day with us starts at 7:00 a.m. with a cuddle and a quiet breakfast. Then follows a varied programme that matches the world of young children. We use the VVE programmes Uk & Puk and Startblokken. In a playful way we stimulate language, numeracy, motor skills and social development. Think of singing with movement, reading aloud in a circle, finger painting, exploring the sandpit or baking cookies together. We regularly take trips to the school playground, the village or the surrounding nature. Our space is furnished like a home, with corners for sleeping, playing, changing and crawling. The bedroom is quiet and dark; babies sleep in cots and toddlers in beds. We follow the sleep rhythm from home and watch for signals. Changing takes place on a separate changing table; nappies and wipes are included. Bottle feeding is given according to the parents’ schedule; bottles and milk are brought from home. Healthy nutrition is important to us. We serve a morning and lunch box from parents, supplemented with fresh fruit and drinks from us. In case of food allergies we adjust the menu in consultation with parents and the GGD. As part of IKC Hoogholtje we use the safe school playground with natural play equipment, a vegetable garden and a sandbox. Outdoor play is part of our daily programme, weather permitting. In bad weather we move indoors with dance, movement equipment and play materials. Parental involvement is highly valued. Through the parent portal and newsletter we keep parents informed.
