Hoeve Ackerdijk

At our organic farm between Delft and Rotterdam we welcome children aged 0 to 4 in a warm, rural setting. Since 2015 we have provided childcare in the atmospherically converted cowshed at Rotterdamseweg 223 in Schipluiden. Together with farmer Bas, farmer’s wife Petra and our permanent pedagogical team, we create a safe place every day where children can discover nature and its rhythms at their own pace. Our green pedagogy is central. Respect, space, calm and regularity are the cornerstones of our approach. The children go outside daily to play, visit the cows, splash in puddles or picnic in the grass. In this way they feel the cold on their cheeks, listen to birds and learn playfully about farm life. The farm offers plenty of opportunities to explore nature and to experience the connection between city and countryside. Our spacious, clean and atmospheric areas – both indoors and in the garden and on the yard – invite play and development. We work with horizontal groups, in which the very youngest have separate rest and sleeping areas. Parents can opt for half or full days, tailored to their needs.
