Het Zandkasteel

Children's Centre Het Zandkasteel enjoys a unique location right behind the Boulevard of Katwijk, nestled in the dunes and only a stone’s throw from the beach. We are based in the ‘Het Zeehos’ health centre, which also houses GPs, a pharmacy and various paramedical services. This central spot makes our centre easy to reach and allows parents to combine appointments. At Het Zandkasteel we work with a close-knit team of dedicated pedagogical staff. We know every child – and each other – well, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. We care for up to 52 children in four groups: two vertical groups (0-4 years), one baby group (0-2 years) and one toddler group (1.5-4 years). This set-up lets parents choose between a mixed-age setting or an age-specific group, whichever suits their child best. Our outdoor area is a real highlight: a challenging traffic square where children can ride balance bikes and scooters, plus a large sandpit for building castles and digging. Thanks to our dune location we often take trips to the beach and surrounding nature. These outings enrich the children’s development and complete our programme. Het Zandkasteel offers pre-school education (VE). From the age of 2½, children take part in structured activities that focus on language, numeracy, motor skills and social-emotional development. We use an accredited programme tailored to the world of young children. Through play they acquire the basic skills they will need later at primary school. We are open from 07:30 to 18:30 and provide both full-day and half-day care. Parents can opt for flexible contracts so that childcare fits their working hours and personal circumstances.
