Het Troeteltje

Welcome to Het Troeteltje, a warm and homely daycare centre in the heart of Amsterdam-Zuid. We are located in a fully renovated building at Van Ostadestraat 13-O and offer small-scale care for up to sixteen children aged 0 to 4. Our vision is clear: every child is unique and counts. From an open-minded perspective on the young child, we stimulate each child’s natural development at his or her own pace. We work in a vertical setting where younger and older children play together. This encourages social skills: children learn from and with each other, take age differences into account and thus develop a natural sense of empathy and cooperation. The group space is deliberately designed to be low-stimulus, so that children experience calm and can focus on exploring and playing. Every day we prepare fresh, organic and vegetarian meals in our own kitchen. We believe it is important that children receive healthy and tasty meals that meet their needs. Our 60 m² garden offers plenty of space to play outside, move around and discover nature. At Het Troeteltje we work with a stable and loving team. We guide new children through three consecutive settling-in days that gradually become longer. During this settling-in period we coordinate with parents, evaluate in between and adjust the pace to whatever suits the child best. We ask parents to bring a familiar cuddly toy from home, a dummy and spare clothes so that the transition goes as smoothly as possible. In short, Het Troeteltje is a place where children feel safe and secure, where there is room for their own initiative and where we work together with parents to follow and stimulate their child’s development.
