Het Kleine Rijk 't Bootje

Welcome to Het Kleine Rijk 't Bootje, our warm and homely daycare center at the unique location of 2e Katendrechtsehaven 25 in Rotterdam-Katendrecht. We are part of KindeRdam Childcare and provide care for children aged 0 to 4 years in an anthroposophical environment. Our special building is shaped like a ship and situated at the tip of Katendrecht, with beautiful views over the river Maas. Inside, everything is furnished with natural materials - think wooden toys, woolen blankets and soft colors. This creates a calm and safe environment where children can develop at their own pace. We work with small vertical groups where children of different ages play and learn together. Our pedagogical staff pay great attention to daily rituals that provide structure and security. Every day we knead dough together for our freshly baked bread, which we then enjoy together. The children help with simple household tasks, which boosts their self-confidence. We prefer to be outside. Our garden offers plenty of opportunities to play with sand, water and natural materials. We regularly take walks through the neighborhood and to the playground in front of the door. When the weather is nice we play outside, but even in the rain we put on our boots to splash through puddles. Creative expression is central to our activities. We craft with natural materials, paint with beeswax paint and make seasonal pieces. The simplicity of our materials stimulates children's imagination and invites open-ended play. For the little ones we offer quiet sleeping areas with cribs and cradles. We follow each child's natural rhythm and adjust our care accordingly. Diapers and bottle feeding are included with us, as well as organic meals and snacks. Our preschool education focuses on language development and social skills, aligned with the anthroposophical view of child development. We don't work with performance pressure, but offer rich experiences that stimulate natural curiosity.
