Het Kievitsnest

Welcome to daycare Het Kievitsnest, a homely location in the middle of a green and quiet neighbourhood in Nootdorp. We are part of Gro-up Childcare and provide care for up to 56 children aged 0 to 4 years, divided into two baby groups (Bears and Penguins) and two toddler groups (Monkeys and Giraffes). Our spacious location offers plenty of play opportunities both indoors and outdoors and radiates calm and security. At the heart of our building lies the play hall with a large play house, slide and hiding corners where children climb, slide and play together. We believe movement is important: babies crawl and roll on soft mats, toddlers climb and scramble during toddler gym and move to music during Music on Lap. Each group has its own door to the garden, so outdoor play is part of our daily rhythm. Babies explore sand and water at low tables, while toddlers ride bikes, build sandcastles and search for frogs and ladybirds. Parents can choose to let their child sleep outside; many children sleep more calmly and deeply in the fresh air. We work thematically, tailored to the child’s world. Think of seasons, animals, traffic or emotions. Within these themes we read aloud, sing songs, do crafts with natural materials and make short outings with the pull-cart to the playground, the library or the farm. Our toddler group Kwikstaartjes follows the Early Childhood Education programme ‘Startblokken’. Through play, toddlers practise language, numeracy and social skills so they can start group 1 with confidence. Familiarity and cooperation with parents are central. We work with a fixed team of pedagogical staff, keep daily contact via the parent portal and organise parent meetings, an annual summer party and a joint school photographer. Together we create a safe and stimulating environment in which every child can develop at his or her own pace.
