Het Fort

Welcome to BSO Het Fort, located in the unique Fort Lunet I on Koningsweg in Utrecht. As part of Kind&co ludens, we provide after-school care in a historic setting that forms part of the New Dutch Waterline. Our fort is no ordinary childcare location: children play and discover in a real fortress with thick walls, casemates and a rich history. We work according to our Pedagogical Heart. This means we first ensure children feel welcome and that having fun forms the basis. Only when a child feels comfortable is there room to grow and discover. We give children confidence and space to be curious and explore the world around them. For us, play equals discovery and learning. Therefore, we actively provide an inspiring and challenging environment where children can develop. Our location features a large green outdoor space where children can garden, build with old wood, play hide and seek or play football. Inside we have a stage where children can showcase their theatrical talents and an atelier where they can craft with materials found in nature. We cook together, grow vegetables and teach children about nature and sustainability through play. When it freezes, we go ice skating and in good weather we make use of the unique outdoor space of the fort. BSO Het Fort is a mini-society where we care for each other and the world around us. We believe that by playing, discovering and creating together, children not only have fun but also develop important social skills. Our pedagogical staff guide children with warmth, knowledge and experience.
