Hestia Waldorf aan de Werf

Our after-school care is located in the temporary building of the intercultural primary school Waldorf aan de Werf in Amsterdam North. We work closely with the school as our pedagogical vision aligns perfectly with the free school philosophy. We follow children's natural development and draw inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Maria Montessori and Rudolf Steiner. We believe everything is already within a child and help children become who they want to be. Outdoor play is central to our approach. We believe there's no bad weather, only bad clothing. We play outside daily, work together with children in our vegetable garden boxes, and explore nature. We support adventurous play within safe boundaries, allowing children to develop self-confidence and learn their limits. We are an inclusive after-school care where multilingualism is natural. We use the OTOL method (one teacher one language), where one pedagogical employee speaks Dutch and the other English. This way, children learn two languages through play. Our after-school care is open Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM - 6:30 PM. During school holidays, we provide care from 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM. We have space for 33 children in one horizontal group.
