Helden Opvang Dorpsstraat

Welcome to Helden Opvang Dorpsstraat, our welcoming after-school care centre in the heart of Harmelen. We are located at Dorpsstraat 269, right in the neighbourhood, making it easy for children from nearby primary schools to join us after class. The centre is decorated in our signature Scandinavian style: warm colours, plenty of wood and natural materials that radiate calm and security. This creates a place where children instantly feel at home. Our BSO is open 52 weeks a year, Monday to Friday until 18:30. We are only closed on nationally recognised public holidays. We provide care for up to 22 school-age children between 4 and 12 years old. The groups are arranged horizontally, so children play in a safe and familiar setting with peers of the same age. Our pedagogical staff pick the children up from school and make sure they have a pleasant afternoon. At Helden Opvang we believe it is important that children can unwind after a busy school day and still have room to move and explore. Therefore we offer plenty of play opportunities both indoors and outdoors. We have a garden where children can romp, build and play with natural materials. Inside there is a cosy corner for reading or relaxing, as well as a creative space for crafts, cooking or technical projects. Our programme is broad and adapts to the children’s interests. Think sports and games, creative workshops, nature and technology projects and fun cooking sessions. We work thematically and actively involve the children in planning activities. In this way they learn to make choices, cooperate and discover their talents. We also organise regular outings in the local area, such as to the library, the park or a nearby farm. Parents experience our centre as personal and committed. We communicate openly and transparently through newsletters and parent meetings.
