Heemhuys 't Schaepje

Welcome to Heemhuys 't Schaepje, our small-scale daycare in the heart of Dordrecht. Located at Vrieseweg 121, just a stone's throw from the characteristic center of our beautiful city, we provide a warm home for up to 10 children daily. These children are divided between two cozy living rooms, each accommodating five or six children aged 0-4 years. Children grow together in our vertical groups, where the youngest learn from the older ones and toddlers develop caring attitudes towards babies. Our anthroposophical vision forms the foundation of everything we do. We believe in a calm, respectful environment where children receive all the space, warmth and attention they need to flourish. Natural materials like wool are commonplace here, as is the reference to the shepherd caring for his sheep - exactly how we care for the children entrusted to us. Our location offers 130 m2 of space featuring two living rooms designed for free play and togetherness. Outside awaits our wonderful discovery garden. In summer, children pick cherries and herbs themselves for our daily fresh vegetable soup. There's a sandbox, mud kitchen, and of course children can play barefoot in the grass and soil. We regularly take lovely walks to beautiful Merwesteijn Park, Dordrecht's oldest city park. Sometimes we visit the market or watch boats in our beautiful harbors. Led by Miriam, our Dordrecht native who returned from France where she worked as a kindergarten teacher, we operate with a dedicated team including Stèphanie, Sterre, Zwaan and Mandy. We're an enthusiastic, open team that complements each other well. Our atmosphere is calm and respectful, exactly what children need to feel safe and secure.
