Harlekijn

Welcome to Harlekijn, our daycare centre located at Mgr. de Vetstraat 2A in the heart of Breda. We are part of the Kober group and provide care for 78 children aged 0 to 4. Our focus is on creating a safe, familiar environment where every child can be themselves and develop at their own pace. We use vertical groups: children of different ages are together, allowing the youngest to learn from older toddlers and the toddlers to practise care and patience. Our spacious, bright rooms with large windows create an open atmosphere where children can play and explore freely. We have an open-door policy: parents are always welcome to drop in, join playtime, or simply see how their child spends the day. Pedagogically, we work with the VVE programme ‘Doen, praten en bewegen’ (Do, talk and move) by the CED group. This means we systematically monitor and stimulate babies and toddlers in speech and language, social-emotional development, and motor skills. Each child is assigned a First Responsible Pedagogical Worker (EVP) who closely tracks development and is the fixed contact for parents. Twice a year we schedule a 10-minute meeting to discuss observations and progress. Our team consists of permanent, qualified pedagogical staff (SPW-3) who also hold a valid first-aid certificate and Certificate of Good Conduct. Continuity is important to us: children and parents see the same faces every day. In addition, we have a few regular substitutes with the same qualifications, ensuring care is never compromised. Safety and hygiene are high on our priority list. We carry out an annual risk assessment using the LCHV (health) and Safety Management methods. Results are translated into concrete action points that we review monthly. Our doors have electronic locks; parents receive two keys upon enrolment, with a deposit of € 25 per key. Communication runs through a secure parent portal. For babies we record daily sleep and feeding times; for older children we post at least one weekly report with photos. Parents can also leave messages about changes in feeding or sleep routines. A digital newsletter is published every month with the latest group news. In short, at Harlekijn children find a second home where they can playfully discover who they are and what they can do, while parents leave their child with peace of mind.
