BSO IKC De Watersnip

Welcome to BSO IKC De Watersnip, our small-scale after-school care in the heart of Buytenwegh, Zoetermeer. We are located in the same building as primary school IKC De Watersnip at César Franckrode 70, so children simply walk down the corridor after school to a familiar place where they quickly feel at home. We provide care for up to 22 children per day in one base group. The children are aged 4 to 12 and come from the immediate neighbourhood. For children from 8.5 years or grade 5 onwards, there is the option to move on to our Kidsclub in the Meerzicht district, where a greater degree of independence is expected. On regular weekdays there are always two permanent pedagogical staff members in the group; during holiday care we collaborate with BSO De Buytenkans and BSO Het Lijsternest so that there is plenty of room for extended activities. Our day starts at 7:30 a.m. with before-school care and ends at 6:30 p.m. with after-school care. We also offer care on teacher-training days. We work thematically: every holiday has a different theme that ties in with the children’s world of experience. Think of nature and technology projects, creative workshops, sports and games, and regular outings to the playground, the woods or cultural venues in Zoetermeer. The children help design the programme so that it truly becomes their holiday. Inside we have a cosy group room with corners for crafts, building, games and quiet reading. Outside there is a safe, green playground with climbing frames, a sandpit and plenty of space for football and dodgeball. We teach children to work with natural materials and regularly organise gardening and cooking activities using produce from our own planter boxes. Parents can find all practical information in the gro-up parent portal: schedules, holiday programmes, photos and newsletters. We consider parental involvement self-evident: from the first intake interview to annual parent evenings and helping out with activities. Together we ensure that every child feels safe, seen and challenged at BSO IKC De Watersnip.
