Welcome to Kindercentrum Gaya, located at Asterweg 20R 1 in vibrant Amsterdam-Noord. We are a caring, professional daycare centre dedicated to children from 0 to 4 years old, guiding them with love and expertise through their earliest years. Although our organisation also runs Ayla and Fay, this location is exclusively designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers who need a safe and secure place to grow. At Gaya we work with horizontally structured groups. Babies (0-1 yr) rest and play in the quiet baby groups Gawain and Lancelot, toddlers (1-2 yr) take their first steps outside the familiar home environment in Merlijn, and preschoolers (2-4 yr) explore, craft and prepare for primary school in Isolde & Persival. Each group has its own team of regular pedagogical staff who know exactly which stimuli and activities suit your child’s developmental stage. Our spacious indoor areas invite play and discovery: an atelier corner for creative expression, a reading nook with picture books and soft cushions, and plenty of movement materials to stimulate fine and gross motor skills. The large garden borders directly on our building and offers sand, water, greenery and climbing equipment. We go outside every day, because fresh air and natural stimuli are essential for healthy development. We regularly make short trips to the nearby park or playground. Care is in our DNA: nappies, wipes and baby food are included and we take allergies and dietary requirements into account. Our kitchen provides a daily hot, healthy meal around 11:30 am and a bread meal around 3:00 pm. In between we serve fresh fruit and drinks. For the very youngest we establish sleep routines in consultation with parents; babies sleep in separate bedrooms with cots and baby monitors, while preschoolers can rest on beds in the quiet room. We follow the VVE programme ‘Startblokken’ which playfully stimulates language, numeracy and social skills. Making music, singing and reading aloud are just as much part of this as building, balancing and experimenting with water and sand. Our pedagogical staff observe and record each child’s development so that we can adjust where necessary, together with parents.
